Still Here

Sorry there was no playlist last week. Every year, KAOS is required to submit logs to BMI (one of the major music publishing companies) as part of our licensing agreement. The catch is, we have to use their logs, and include the composer of the song. This is fairly time consuming, and I didn't have much time to type things up as well. I've been looking forward to the new Robyn Hitchcock & the Venus 3 album. Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey, as well as Bill Rieflin make up the Venus 3, along with many other folks. To top it off, one of the songs, "Cause It's Love (Saint Parallelogram)", was co-written with Andy Partridge of XTC. I had read that Robyn Hitchcock and Andy Partridge were collaborating on several songs, but this is the only one that made it on the album (that I know of). Here's the blurb from the XTC site:

Andy and psychedelic Soft Boy Shaman Robyn Hitchcock have been writing and recording together recently. Robyn has been touring with members of REM and when he gets off the road he and Andys sonic experiments will re commence. Early song titles include 'Turn Me On Deadman", 'Love' 'Let Me Exist' and 'Great Wall Of Breakfast!'.

I'm also eagerly awaiting the US release of the new Sloan album, "Never Hear The End Of It." It came out in Canada last week, and I'm debating about ordering it from maplemusic.com. It appears to be a double album, and judging by the two tracks that are on their myspace page, It could be their best album since Navy Blues (at least in my opinion). I was happy to see a new album from Wet Confetti. They're from Portland, and I really liked their last album, "This Is So Illegal (Do It Fast)". The new album is "Laughing Gasping", and it sounds really good. Also, Hella has put out a new EP called "Acoustics", which is the most intense acoustic album you'll ever hear. Very nice.
